Click “+ Create new” and choose the social media platform you’re designing for. Adobe Express already includes templates for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and more. 

For this example, I selected the Instagram Post 1080×1080 template.

Step 2: Choose a Template (or Start From Scratch)

Next, you can browse a huge library of templates. I searched “summer sale” and immediately saw dozens of well-designed options I could tweak.

If you’re working with a specific campaign theme, just type in your keyword. Once you find a template you like, click it to start customizing.

Templates help give you a strong design foundation, especially if you’re short on time. But you can always start with a blank canvas too.

Step 3: Customize Your Design

Once your template loads, that’s when the fun really starts. Adobe Express gives you a clean and straightforward editor where you can tweak everything: text, images, icons, colors, and make it truly your own.

Here’s what I usually do:

1. Replace Text

Click any text box to update the message. What I like is that Express shows live previews while you type, so you instantly see how it looks. For my design, I changed the headline to “Hot Deals This Week” and added a short brand tagline underneath to tie it all together.

2. Change the Fonts and Colors

Under the right-hand menu, you’ll see font and color options. You can match your brand colors or play around with trending color palettes.

3. Swap Out Images or Logos

Click on any image or placeholder and choose “Replace” to upload your own or pick from Adobe’s free photo library. 

4. Add Shapes or Icons

Need a little flair? Click on “Shapes” or “Icons” in the left-hand panel. I added a speech bubble to highlight the discount code.

All the edits were simple drag-and-drop, and nothing felt complicated. I actually enjoyed working on it — it was easy and didn’t feel like a chore.

Step 4: Animate Your Graphic (Optional)

Here’s something I didn’t expect: Adobe Express lets you animate text and elements with just a few clicks. For social posts, a little motion can boost engagement.

I clicked on “Animation” in the top menu and tried out a few effects like “Fade In,” “Slide,” and “Typewriter.” I ended up using a subtle fade-in for the text and a light zoom-in on the product image—it added just the right touch without being too much.

Step 5: Resize for Other Platforms

After I finished the Instagram version, I decided to repurpose the same design for Facebook Stories and Pinterest. Instead of starting all over again, I just clicked on the “Resize” button inside Adobe Express. From there, I selected the platforms I needed — and the tool automatically adjusted the layout for each one.

Some elements needed a little tweaking, like shifting text or resizing an image, but overall, it saved me a ton of time. I didn’t have to redesign everything from scratch, which made the whole process smoother.

    One thing that saved me a lot of clicks was setting up my brand kit first. Once I uploaded my logo and picked my usual fonts and colors, I could apply them to any design instantly. It’s especially helpful when I’m juggling multiple posts for the same brand.
  • Duplicate Designs for Easy Variations
    Instead of creating new graphics from scratch every time, I just duplicate an existing one and update the text or image. That way, all the visuals stay consistent, and I can build out a full set of posts way faster.
  • Use the Layers Panel to Stay Organized
    When I’m working with a bunch of elements—like text over shapes or logos overlapping images—the layers panel really comes in handy. It makes it easy to bring certain things forward, push others back, and avoid accidentally moving something out of place.
