My XP Pen Artist 22 Plus Review

The launch of XP Pen Artist 22 Plus marked a significant milestone in the digital art realm. Featuring a strikingly large 21.5-inch display, I found the Artist 22 Plus is one of the cheapest drawing displays for its size.

That’s absolutely crazy, considering the advanced features we get at such an economical price.

Let Your Ideas Flow with Brilliant Color

The first thing that stands out when we take the Artist 22 Plus is its sleek, shiny exterior and huge 21.5-inch display. This generous screen size offer creators like me ample space for modeling, drawing, creating, and designing directly on the monitor’s surface.

With a 4K display and a 1080p resolution, the HD IPS Monitor provides an accurate Adobe RGB color gamut of more than 80% that adds brilliance to creations and offers exquisite details to truly bring my artwork to life.

However, I did feel that the screen suffered from pixelation.

While the pixels were practically unnoticeable during working, I could see individual pixels if I really focused on the screen. Fortunately, this shouldn’t be a distraction unless we’re already acquainted with 4k resolutions.

Right off the bat, the stylus looks really nice. Its clean design complements the Pen Display very well. I found that it has a balanced weight and is well-built to allow easy gripping.

The advantage of going with more pressure levels is that it allows finer distinctions in the thickness of lines, which is particularly helpful for me when I am working on a high-resolution drawing.

Simply put, the built-in scroll wheel in the stylus is industry-first and I can customize it based on my preferences for functions such as zooming in/out (on the pen tip/canvas), rotating, and even flipping models in 3D creation, among other features.

From finer sketches to seamless shading, the stylus delivers superior control and stunning fluidity at all times. I personally loved the fast response time and almost no lag that allowed the pen to draw the lines exactly where I expected them to be.

And let’s not forget about the one-click toggle that allowed instantaneous switching between the pen and eraser mode. This surely gave me that much-needed confidence boost when creating my art.

Ergonomic Design

Like other displays in the XP Pen Artist series, the Artist 22 Plus has been designed to provide professional creators a comfortable viewing experience.

Its flexible, ergonomically designed stand prevents sliding or shaking. I liked the way it quickly adjusted to a new drawing angle (from 16 to 178 degrees) and could also be attached to a VESA mount, enabling me to put the display in my preferred working posture.
